My background is in Public Relations and Event Planning and it was through my previous position that I met our President Andi Marcus. She came to me when Mistura was in its infancy and she had a vision. We talked and talked over coffee and I could really see that she had such a strong belief in this company and in the product itself. We worked together for months on her launch in the spring of 2008. Through that process I made myself a lifelong friend. I am not sure why as we never really spoke about it, but both Andi and myself felt that we would work together one day so when she offered me a position with Mistura, I was ready to leave my job and jump aboard the Mistura train.
It will be 2 years this September (2011) and never once have I regretted my decision. It has been a very bumpy road at times but the team we have put together is awesome. We laugh so much during our staff meetings, we all have such a strong belief in the brand and where it can go, we are all good friends and/or family so that allows us to be honest and open with each other without feeling like we may lose our jobs. We all feel so fortunate to be part of a rapidly growing company and to be able to work with people that we love.
My feeling about cosmetics in general is that it should be simple on a day to day basis. The makeup you wear should enhance your own natural beauty and should not be the focal point. Sometimes, when going out to a club (which rarely happens in my life), I may add a little more sparkle or pizzazz to my beauty regime, but basically, I am all about keeping it simple. At this time, I handle most of the customer relations including all of our vendors and individual customers. It is absolutely wonderful to receive emails from women all over the country and the world who are interested in Mistura or who absolutely love the results they are getting from the product. It always amazes me that women will take time out of their busy schedules to drop us a note to say thank you.
Personally, I am married with 2 young daughters so life is busy. As young girls, I am constantly trying to instil in them a strong feeling of self and that they are beautiful no matter what. My oldest daughter is just getting to the age where she is enjoying playing with makeup. I like to tell her to keep it simple because she is so beautiful just the way she is…as we all are!
